When the Millennium Yellow River Civilization Meets International Museum Day, a dialogue on cultural inheritance began in the City Hall of Yellow River Cultural Museum, Shaanxi.

On May 18th, “International Museum Day”, the Yellow River Upstream Authority and Shaanxi Yellow River Culture Museum jointly organized a seminar on the theme “Museum Day and Yellow River Culture: The Future of Museums in a Rapidly Changing Society” by Xu Xiaohua, Director of the Yellow River Cultural Museum of Shaanxi. “The way to do this is by activating cultural values through digital transformation, reframing cultural narratives with cross-disciplinary collaboration, allowing Yellow River culture to truly ‘go out’ in the process of ‘living up’.”

Yellow River Water Conservancy Writers Association, Chief Expert of the Yellow River Cultural Research Institute and Special Expert of the Yellow River Cultural Museum in Shaanxi, Hou Quanliang, with the theme of “Activating the Yellow River Cultural Resources, Telling the Heritage Story of Civilization, Inheriting the Values of the Yellow River Culture and Promoting the Times of the Yellow River Culture.
During the interactive session, the audience engaged in an in-depth dialogue about the historical heritage of Yellow River civilization and contemporary communication. The audience asked questions: “How did the earliest Yellow River agricultural civilization shape the Chinese way of life?” “How can museum explainers make the story more emotionally penetrating and historical depth under existing narrative framework?” In the summary, the event created a cross-border collaborative sample of “water conservancy sector + museum + academic community”, which provides triple value for cultural preservation and museum transformation: “resource integration: barriers to water history, cultural heritage collections and academic research; model innovation: take International Museum Day as an opportunity to explore the three-dimensional transmission path of “thematic exhibitions + scholarly discussions + public participation”.

"People's Healthcare Workers" National Honor Award winner Lu Shengmei attended the event and gave an interview: "Today is May 18th, in our small county of Jiaxian, held this lecture on "The Future of Museums in a Rapidly Changing World", I felt leadership at all levels of our Jiaxian. Our museum people were able to use their affection to build such a shocking museum with a lot of hard work, should thank them for leaving us Jiaxian people a valuable treasure." The practice of the Yellow River Cultural Museum and the Yellow Committee’s Upstream Administration shows that only by keeping cultural heritage pulse with the times, can we continue to flow through the long river of history and contribute Chinese wisdom and yellow river programs to the global theme of “International Museum Day”.
