The Yellow River, as the mother river of the Chinese nation, is not only a great river in the geographical sense, but also a spiritual totem of the heritage of civilization. On October 17, 2025, a series of activities "Yellow River Cultural Dialogue - Great Rivers Tout into Painting" was held at the Shaanxi Yellow River Culture Museum.

Nine Qu Yellow River Love was created by Zhao Tuo and Ke Jianjun, completed in nine months, finally showing a length of 80 meters, comparable to the artistic scale of the Mirror Hall in Versailles, France.
Shaanxi Yellow River Culture Museum Vice-Director Li Jinli introduced during the dialogue. As a special venue opened in October 2023, the Yellow River Cultural Museum of Shaanxi is the core display of "Changhe Wan Ancient Flows". Through four themed exhibitions and one thematic exhibition, the system presents physical geography, human history and folklore along the Yellow River Province (District).
“This long volume is the soul of Chen’s exhibition,” said Li Jinli. The long volume presents a panoramic view of the natural landscape and human symbols of the Yellow River basin.
In the dialogue, the two creators of Jiuqu Yellow River shared the ingenuity story behind his creation. “At the beginning, we faced a dilemma: how to use a painting to carry the geographical span of 5464 kilometers and the cultural thickness of thousands of years?” Zhao Tuo said.
Mr. Ke Jianjun said that the creative team innovated to integrate Chinese and Western painting techniques, "with Chinese scatter compositions to achieve spatial integration, enhance the sense of authenticity with western painting methods." In order to accurately present geographical features, they not only visited along Huang Jiu Province (District), but also collected materials through the Internet, carefully distinguishing the clear water waves of Orling Lake in Qinghai, the gorgeous colors of Danxia in Gansu, and the gullies of the Yellow Earth Plateau in Shaanxi.
The 80-meter volume, from the potzhuang dance in Qinghai Tibetan district, singing "flower children" by Sara people, to Taiping drums in Gansu and horse racing scenes in Inner Mongolia. From the incense burner temple in Shaanxi Jiaxian County, Kekou Falls, to Shanxi Datong Grotto, Henan Longmen Grotto, to Shandong Taishan Sunrise and Weifang Kite.
In the cultural interpretation session, the three guests shared their eyes on the charm of the Yellow River. Zhao Tuo believes that the creative process is both a practice of art and a systematic cultural learning.
In the future, more people especially young people will learn about Yellow River culture and participate in cultural heritage through introduction of special exhibitions, strengthening cooperation with universities and research institutions, developing youth study courses and so on.
The 80-meter-long volume becomes the "living vehicle" of Yellow River culture through the collision of art and Wenbo. As an important event in 2025, Shaanxi Yellow River Cultural Tourism Month, the dialogue not only shows the broad depth of Yellow River culture, but also builds bridges for cultural communication and exchange.
According to the introduction, as a series of actions by Shaanxi Yellow River Culture Museum to spread the culture of the Yellow River to the public, it will also launch dialogue activities such as "Yangge Land and Shaanxi North Yange" and "Yangge of the Yellow River in Shaanxi Folk Songs".
